Router Reviews
In this blog when I say routers I mean broadband modem/routers. In other words something to do with computers and the Internet. So, if you are thinking routers for woodworking or something else then this is not the site for you. But if you are here for ‘routers reviews’ on different types of routers related to computers, then you are definitely at the right place.
This site, routers reviews, has reviews of different types of modems/routers that are available in the market today. Check out the list on the right hand column and click on a router to read the review of that specific router. After you click and go to the page of a particular router, there is also an option of buying from the internet if you happen to like that router.
So, what is a router?
A router is basically a device that connects the computer to the Internet by transferring data packets. So, when you type in the URL of a website or something in Google, the router sends your requests to the ISP (Internet Service Provider) which in turn sends back the data you have requested for through your router. Now, if you have two computers connected to the same Wi-Fi router at the same time, then the router filters and sends the data packets to the relevant computer. In short, a router is a device that joins multiple wireless or wired networks together.
A router not only connects the computers in a home network to the web, but also has the capability of connecting the computers among each other. A router also could allow you to share a portable hard drive within the network. Not only that, it is also possible to share a single printer among all of the computers in the house. Keep in mind, not all routers are able to do that so, make sure and read the ‘fine prints’ before purchasing a router/modem. Do a lit bit of research before buying a router.
Is there a difference between a modem and a router?
Of course there is. With a modem you connect a single computer to the Internet via the phone line or cable. Whereas,
with a router you can connect multiple computers to the Internet through what is called a network. Like I mentioned earlier, besides the Internet, the router can also connect your printer or your external hard-drive to the network so it can be accessed by all the computers in that network. Modems don’t have that kind of capabilities.
